A useful file name tells you what a document contains before you open it. Start with a short subject, then add a date or version when that detail matters. Use the same order across related files so the folder remains easy to scan.
For example, a project folder might contain meeting notes, reference material, and a completed summary. Giving each group a clear name is usually more helpful than placing every item in a single long list. Avoid abbreviations that only made sense on the day the file was created.
When a project ends, review the folder and identify the final documents. Keep older versions in a clearly labelled place if you need them. Consistent names make it easier to return to your work later.
